“When we built The Carleton Music Bar & Grill in Halifax in 2008, I turned to one of my old high school friends (and high school football team-mate) - Barry Hirtle - to help me out. I told him I wanted, "a system where the sound is exactly the same volume, regardless of where in the restaurant one is," and that, "if it can double as a PA system for live shows, that would be awesome."

Happily, contacting Barry about this was one of the smartest things I did. Thanks to the array system he put in (an unusual one for live performances), not only is the ambient sound in the room exactly as I'd hoped it would be, the live sound has turned out to be a major reason why we've won six Music Nova Scotia awards for Venue of the Year and just recently won our third East Coast Music Award for the same thing.
